Valentine's Alone

Waking up to the freezing air
Not spotting any teddy bear
Into the blurry light I stare
Valentine's Day is awful, I swear

Shots of love Instagram was filled
Without difference, Twitter too was killed
Turning my head to the right, I looked
Even my plushie had such a day booked

After all the cringing scenes
I decided to head out to sightsee the greens
Not expecting to see a couple of two
Kissing each other that gave me the flu

Headed back inside to watch a movie
Well, The Notebook definitely made me moody
The kitchen I go to make myself lunch
Heart-shaped cereals didn't help, I boringly munch

A snap of fingers, I see the moon
The night's here yet I hold no balloon
Devastating, ain't it? February 14
Singles out there, at least we're all clean!

Yup, that's me.

Awful Stereotypes

Few days ago, I attended my first ever Sociology class in my first week of college. What's Sociology, you ask? Well, it is the scientific study of social behaviour or society, including its origins, development, organisation, networks & institutions (basically humans in groups, I think?). Yup, the field is pretty wide to me, and I chose to sit in this subject as it'd probably decorate my Communications major. Lots to memorise/understand, at least I own my liking to this subject.

One of the subtopics I learnt from class last Tuesday was a term you can spot from the title above - Stereotypes (no I did not learn what's above the stars). A term widely used in society nowadays, it is also something we shouldn't practice & model in the 20th century. Here's a thing you gladly discover about me today: I HATE people who stereotypes. In such a rapidly-growing & advanced decade, there is no way I can understand why these doltish humans chose to follow the view of old/dead people of their same kind. Like come on, man. Why would you think Asians are freaking smart anymore? Most of us were forced to bury our faces into books & dictionaries when we were young, don't say you're still in support of that torturing childhood story! Anyways, here are a few stereotypes I loathe to the extend I'd spit on horrible humans who practices them.

1. Tomboys are gay.

Alright guys let's end it all here for once. WHY IN HEAVENS WOULD YOU THINK SO? Just because they dress like a boy & skateboard to school, there's no way that makes us fall for the same gender as we are. I'm not saying there are no gay tomboys, but I'm spreading the awful logic of this faulty stereotype to the world so inconsiderate souls would stop thinking so. Do you know how hard is it for us when boys cut off the affection for tomboys as we are stereotyped as gays? I have guy friends saying shit to me as if I don't get hurt like girly girls, pulling my hair thinking I'm wearing a wig (why) & of course, thinking I'm in love with my bestie. So please, just stop it all for us cool people's sake.

2. Asians are good at math.

Nope nope nope, at least not for me. I HATE & suck at math, even the calculator doesn't sound like help to me.

3. People with beatifully decorated houses are rich af.

Okay this is not a popular one you'd hear your buddies rant about, but it's something I can definitely relate to. Yup the interior design of my house is throughly-thought & my family did spent a lot on our warm cozy shelter, it's because you see, it's our fucking home. We rather spend our hearts onto a place where we'd enjoy lovely times with our closest relatives than waste it on stuff like fashion & food etc. As a matter of fact, we rarely spend our notes on entertainment like going to the movies & karaokes. Thus in conclusion, we don't buy IKEA furniture just to look like we're top class citizens, I can hardly afford my college education so shut up.

4. YouTubers are (expected to be) extroverts & fun in real life.

Firstly I'd like to declare most YouTubers ARE fun in the non-virtual society, allow me to refer to the other small half of the YouTuber community. I'm an extroverted-introvert, for example. I do love to laugh & shake new hands all the time, but it's also one of my struggles to actually greet & make new friends. I constantly try so hard to squeeze myself into crowds & try to be cool in order to have unknown classmates approach me, but I was unintentionally trained to be an anti-social kid. Here's a tiny favour I'd ask for, next time you see us, feel free to greet & hug us first before we nervously run off!

That's all I suppose. High five to you if you agree with me! Don't worry if you don't though, I'll still give you a high five then drop it off once you're into it. Nah blame's not on me, you're slow.

Hope you enjoyed the read & stay beautiful on the inside aites! Alanis xx.

MTV World Stage Malaysia '15

Huge morning to you all lovely humans! Last night was such a blast it felt like I was in some deep hallucination.

From the evident title, you guys probably know where my night was spent yesterday aites! One word to describe it - unbelievable. The crowd was flooding Sunway Lagoon's Surf Beach, music was super invigorating, and the ones who performed were awe-inspiring. To me, I attend this once-a-year music fest to meet Sekai no Owari, Carly Rae Jepsen & Jason Derulo! Oh gosh I don't even know where to start, they were tearing the stage into pieces. Sekai no Owari made me love them more (the piano performance is heart melting I swear), Carly's performance was perfectly executed & her songs were soul-satisfying, Jason Derulo literally stole the show. His dancers were sight-killers my jaw remained open while they did hysterical moves. Plus the songs he chose to present? Yaassss.

Ah, almost forgot to mention the crew that I went with. They were Nedd (of course), her sister Gienne, and Michelle. What a night of our lives we lived. On top of that, we even met cool people during the event - Benjamin Kheng, JinnyBoy & Mark O'Dea! Hmm there were definitely cons too besides the pros, for example the heartless smokers who are doing an excellent job teaming up with Mr. Haze. I don't care if it's a cigarette or an e-vapor, you're still smoking shit in public, godammit.
Tickets for four.
With JinnyBoy!
Sneakers Squad.
Stage from far view.
View from sitting down *pants*.
Chilling in Pyramid after it ended.

Soon after the event came to an end, we had a sleepover in Nedd's house (or slumber party as she would have it). But well, I'm just going to keep this post until here, obeying the title's accent. The crazy sleepover part will have to wait for tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Hope you peeps had a fun Saturday night too!

Rock on, Alanis xx.

Seafield's Rainbow Run

What's up internet users! (wow what a techy way to address you people)

How would I describe today, you ask? It was a morning of fitness contentment & some breathing difficulties. As what you spot from this blog's title, today I participated in my school's fundraising event - Rainbow Run 2015! Well, don't be confused, it's just an eerie name of the typical colour runs that are hosted everywhere nowadays. Turned out to be such a blast!

Exceptionally, competence & vigor are both prime concerns in any type of runs I participate (including the ones that award medals to people who crawl their way to the finish line), due to that adage I took the run solemnly & completed the 5K run in 34.32 minutes. Peculiarly, my Nike Running app tracked 6.58km which snapped me a little during the run. Admitting it's not really the best pace I could had done, but it was quite a satisfaction that I managed to maintain speed all the way to the finish line.

Did I mentioned 'breathing difficulties'? Ah that was because the colour powder was fluffing everywhere I had to hold my breath whenever I reached a colour station. Imagine yourself closing the ending line with your Galaxy Note 3 being entirely coated in purple & yellow dust. Scared the heck out of me.

The perfect photobomb.

Buddy tag!

The typical selfie?

One of my favourite shots. <3

With some amazing juniors! :)

Finisher Medal & Certificate.

Was an exciting & tiring day indeed! Looking forward to more runs in the future (preferably atypical ones) and a promise to myself to witness improvement in pace. Most importantly hoping that my running buddies are forever rebelling air friction by my side.

Have a great week!

Cheers, Alanis xx.

Theater & Omnom

Hi fellow humans! Hooray for the weekends!

Today was a day of contentment, I would say. Got myself a date with Tom Cruise in the cinema this evening before diving into flavourful sticky bones & mocktails for dinner. What a craze! Futhermore, everything was unexpectedly scheduled in the morning which made it all so exhilarating to savor!

Anyways, Rogue Nation was breathtaking. Goddamit it was so beautifully done. Tom Cruise & Simon Pegg sort of stole my heart away (sorry). Also, after deeply thinking about it, I feel so bad for the luckless man who once had his security card in slot 108. Best of luck, mate.

How can I stand such a gorgeous look? #dies

Benji (Simon Pegg) - Perfect Comedic Foil

Later that, my family & I drove ourselves to Empire Shopping Gallery for a fulfilling dinner at Morganfield's. Surprisingly, the mocktail 'Begonia' earned its place in my favourites as I really enjoy the sparkle of fruits & fizz. The ribs were kind of overdone though, I prefer the one back in Pavillion KL. Other than that it was all scrumptiously good!

Garlicky BBQ Spare Ribs.

Begonia (Mocktail Favourite!)

Smokin' Duck Salad.

Bacon Wrapped Meat Balls.

Chili Loco Tacos.

Oh gosh I soberly can't wait for Mission: Impossible 6. See you peeps (and Tom Cruise) soon!

Huge wishes to a fun weekend, Alanis xx.

Piano Covers: Behind The Scenes

Helloooooo! As you peeps know, I'm a rookie YouTuber and own a YouTube channel full of instrumental covers and weird crap.

Wait, you don't know? Here you go, my awe-inspiring channel. youtube.com/pawslikeaboss

Hmm back to the topic. Ever wonder how I capture my piano covers? Thing is, they never once gave me a smooth time. For every piano cover, random crap happens at least once. That one wrong note when the end was near, camera falling off my window pane (ouch), camera battery dies out of the blue, piano sheets got blown off the stand onto my face, all types of crap. Believe me, I explode every time it happens even though it happens all the time. Sometimes I got so frustrated I 'delayed' my cover for a week. That's how bad it is.

Won't it be splendid if I show you peeps the bloopers? Sadly, I can't find all my past failed videos in my phone or laptop. Guess I deleted them all during last winter, welp. But on the bright side, here's something I got from my recent piano cover. (Warning, random alert)

1.  Before I start filming, a hair swift is very essential.

Do I look good on camera?

2.  Next, a Grimmie Salute as a respect to my idol, Christina.

#TeamGrimmie

3.  Hmm how 'bout a wave to the fans? Oh gosh this never ends huh.

Heyyyy.

4.  Why not do a hoodie flip if I have a hoodie on?

Hoodie is love. <3

5.  And when your song is near the end, your finger decides to tackle an incorrect key.

F. M. L.
6.  Finally, the 'unicorns & rainbows' feeling when you achieve a cover you find satisfying.

Yayyyy in silence.

Now you know piano covers don't only include playing the piano.
Here's the piano cover if you're looking for it. See You Again (Piano Cover)

Cheers! Alanis xx.

Breakfast Quiche

Sunday mornings are the best where you get to wake up whenever you desire (well, besides Saturdays where you don't need to worry about school next day). But surprisingly I woke up earlier than yesterday, which was a question I myself find hard to answer. After popping out from my warm bed, I decided to make Fruit Tortillas for breakfast as I loveeee fruits, but turns out my refrigerator was out of fruit, causing me to go mad for a second. Then, I noticed dozens of eggs waving at me on the countertop saying "EAT ME OR I'LL ROT".

Eggs are such attention seekers, I know.

That's when I made up my 'fruit-demotivated' mind to cook up a Quiche for the first meal of the day. If you don't know what's a Quiche, it's a pastry dish with eggs/custard filling in it and toppings all over the place. Sadly, classic Quiches are a pain to the ass to make because you have to make the crust and stuff, which I, a lazy piece of crap ain't going to do. So instead of the classic ones, I made a really easy 3 minutes Quiche in a mug! Oh and without the crust, I'm currently eating clean without starchy food so I threw in some oats instead.

Ingredients

2 medium sized eggs
3 tablespoons of milk
1 teaspoon of butter
1 tablespoon of oats
6-7 slices of cucumber
4 mini cherry tomatoes, halved
1/8 cup of frozen peas
Few leafs of wild rocket
Salt & pepper to taste
A mug (preferably a tall one)

Here's how you wing it!

First, whisk the eggs with milk and butter in a mug until they're well combined. Then, throw in the toppings (cucumber, tomatoes, peas, oats, or anything you like) and stir evenly. After you feel satisfied with your raw Quiche, slide the mug into the microwave and set it to high for 3 minutes. Take a short nap until you hear its ring, pop it out of the microwave, garnish with wild rocket and you're ready to fulfil your tastebuds! Ah, don't forget to season your Quiche with a dash of salt & pepper!

Yum yum in the tum! <3

Yup, it's just that simple to make a Quiche-for-one (more like an omelette woops). Usually people mix in pieces of baguette bread for a dense, packed texture, but I myself prefer oats as they're much more healthier than bread. Now you don't need to spend an hour fluffing out the pastry crust or buy a ready-made one, all thanks to the microwave (and me, duh).

Hope your weekend is awesome!

Eggs and love, Alanis xx.

Once again, Grimmie Salute!

Hoodie Perks

Hello there fellow beings!

Even though I snore in a country that has only summer ongoing for 24/7, hoodies are still my pick over tees. Such weird ain't I, sweating like a dog under the boiling sun in a winter hoodie. Well, there are actually perks of being hugged by one! At least perks I created and find acceptable..

1.  Hoodies curtail insecurity transiently.

Wearing an oversize one feels like a soft cuddle of warmth. Now you don't need a boyfriend to die for, just grab a Cookie Monster hoodie and look at the midnight stars alone (with a bowl of cookies, of course).

2.  Hoodies hide your flaws.

Afraid to show your bacon around your torso? Hoodies are no problem being its layer of dreamy mozzarella cheese! But wait a second, if you're sliding into a hoodie for this reason, please know that you're a beautiful human, there's no need to hide YOU. Imperfect perfections are still perfect.

Yes you are.

3.  Hoodies are the boss of rain.

When you're walking out from school with a bunch of friends and it's starts raining, just throw on your grey hoodie and run for shelter! The next glance you have on your friends, they're going to be soaking wet while you stand there waving with a crooked grin. Evil, I know.

Ngeheheh.

4.  Hoodies bring out your athletic chapter.

Who doesn't look sporty in a Nike hoodie? No one. You don't even need to perform strength training and jog five hours a day to look like a sport model, just do the cheat trick and you're good to go!

One of my dream hoodies.

5.  Hoodies are forever in trend.

At least in my world. Is it even possible for it to grow outdated? Hoodies own so many different types and genre, just mix & match a few styles to it and poof, the new fashion buzz is out!

Says no one ever!

6.  Also, hoodies hide marks you don't want the public to stare at.

Welp, for this one, you'll understand if you could relate. If you couldn't, don't worry you're good!

That's all for today. See you all soon aites, Alanis xx.

:D

Hoodie Salute!
