Encadrè | Prom '15

Ello!

Held on December 15, Prom was excitingly fun! I decided to wear a tux-like attire not because I like dressing up as a guy (nope not at all), but I just can't resist the classy tuxedo look, it represents my style in a way. I love dresses but I just can't seem to find the perfect one right before prom. Anyways, I think it's best that I clarify that the stuff I wore are all ladies wear. Yup, it's possible to look as classy as men in ladies wear aites. Screw them stereotypes.

With the lovely weirdos. (Nedd, Michelle, Yan Jing & I)
2/3 of the Makan Gang! By the way, we're scouts.

Although we were lucky to book Table 1 which is the table nearest to the stage, I swear that my ears nearly got blown off by the electric guitar's amplifier. Seriously, who the heck adjusted the amplifier's volume until the guitar covers the vocals? A table full of intolerant critics, we all left the table once the guitarist played & sang for another session. I'm also surprised that there was no Best Dressed award this year, weird don't you think? Nonetheless, it was a great one because of the burning warmth of my buddies & the enjoyment we had. Everything is fun once the team is present!

Trying to be fancy but nope we just can't. #SneakersSquad
Photo booth spam!

See those photo booth strips above? Well, those were EARNED by hard work - standing in line over & over again in high heels. Yup, I was wearing leather boots with heels, startled how most people didn't realise that until I duckwalked around with a cringing face. In overall, prom was a memorable one, what a way to end the high school journey with the people who matters. <3

Don't hesitate to do crazy things, Alanis xx.

Harry Potter | Q&A

Greetings muggles! As you may know or not, I recently rewatched every Harry Potter movie due to my faded memory towards its storyline & also to destress myself throughout the horrible SPM journey. Definitely no regrets although I ended up only getting 2 hours of sleep for 8 days straight. They were so good that I was willing to screw my study schedule just to keep my head entertained! Today, I'll be doing a Harry Potter Q&A (or tag whatever you like to call it) that consist of 15 questions about the amazing series. But before we start, I'd like to make it clear that I had never read the books & only watched the films, so everything below is based on the screen instead of the pages.

Awww.

1. Favourite male character?
Either Draco Malfoy or Neville Longbottom, I just can't make up my mind!

2. Favourite female character?
Luna Lovegood. Such a sweet & innocent character.

3. Favourite professor?
Severus Snape. His death sent me to my bedroom, hugging my teddy soaking it with tears.

4. Favourite & least favourite movie?
Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows part 2 is my favourite other than Half Blood Prince. Snape is the reason why as I reaaaaally adore the character to the extend I would read his wiki page again & again. My least favourite would be Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone.

5. Would you rather travel to hogwarts via A) Hogwart Express or B) Flying Car?
Definitely Hogwart Express! Not trying to be safe but I can't afford to miss the scenery along the luxurious ride & the candy cart. The flying car doesn't seem fun to me..

6. Would you rather A) Kiss Voldemort or B) Give Umbridge a bubble bath?
Gosh this is hard. I'm disgusted by Umbridge but at the same time I can never kiss Voldemort no matter what unless I had to save lives. Probably go for giving that ugly bitch a bath. (Or can I give Voldemort a bath? That's better)

7. Which house was your first gut feeling you'd be a part of?
Slytherin is who I am. Long explanation, but if I get to pick a house to be in, I'll go for Gryffindor because I have strategy in mind.

8. Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?
I did it twice on two different websites, got Slytherin at first, but then I got Gryffindor on another one. Confusing eh?

Hermione being Hermione.

9. Which is your favourite class?
Another hard one. I would say Defence Against the Dark Arts, with Transfiguration and Dark Arts coming behind. Once a Slytherin, always a Slytherin.

10. Which character do you think you'd instantly become friends with?
Ron Weasley! We can chat all day I suppose!

11. If you could own one of the three hallows, which one would it be?
The invisibility cloak. The elder wand seems like fun, but of course we don't want it to be in the wrong hands as I would play around with it.

12. Favourite spell?
Sectumpsempra. Not because I'm evil (okay a little evil) but able to control the slashes by swinging the wand sounds exciting to me! Muahahahahaha.

13. If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
SNAPE. I really wanna bring Dobby back to life too but aaaargh I need Snape to live, I'm sorry!

14. Favourite location?
Hagrid's hut. He's such a great guy who saved lives without knowing.

15. Hallows or horcruxes?
Hallows. Why would I want to be immortal with the risk of others destroying pieces of my heart than be the master of death?

<3

Should you rewatch Harry Potter when you have nothing to do? YES, GO DO IT NOW.

Have a great day, Alanis △⃒⃘

MTV World Stage Malaysia '15

Huge morning to you all lovely humans! Last night was such a blast it felt like I was in some deep hallucination.

From the evident title, you guys probably know where my night was spent yesterday aites! One word to describe it - unbelievable. The crowd was flooding Sunway Lagoon's Surf Beach, music was super invigorating, and the ones who performed were awe-inspiring. To me, I attend this once-a-year music fest to meet Sekai no Owari, Carly Rae Jepsen & Jason Derulo! Oh gosh I don't even know where to start, they were tearing the stage into pieces. Sekai no Owari made me love them more (the piano performance is heart melting I swear), Carly's performance was perfectly executed & her songs were soul-satisfying, Jason Derulo literally stole the show. His dancers were sight-killers my jaw remained open while they did hysterical moves. Plus the songs he chose to present? Yaassss.

Ah, almost forgot to mention the crew that I went with. They were Nedd (of course), her sister Gienne, and Michelle. What a night of our lives we lived. On top of that, we even met cool people during the event - Benjamin Kheng, JinnyBoy & Mark O'Dea! Hmm there were definitely cons too besides the pros, for example the heartless smokers who are doing an excellent job teaming up with Mr. Haze. I don't care if it's a cigarette or an e-vapor, you're still smoking shit in public, godammit.
Tickets for four.
With JinnyBoy!
Sneakers Squad.
Stage from far view.
View from sitting down *pants*.
Chilling in Pyramid after it ended.

Soon after the event came to an end, we had a sleepover in Nedd's house (or slumber party as she would have it). But well, I'm just going to keep this post until here, obeying the title's accent. The crazy sleepover part will have to wait for tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Hope you peeps had a fun Saturday night too!

Rock on, Alanis xx.

Early PewDiePie Likings!

Morning world! As a loyal fan of Pewds, I always have a few gameplays of his which I immensely love despite whether they were posted in the year 2010 or 2015. Stuck in my repeat album, why not I share some of them early ones with you all & you guys can go check out the fun! 10 would be a great number, I suppose.

1.  Pom Gets Wi-Fi

Insanely amusing with second degree burns & dark jokes, this one's definitely an all time favourite. And I'm assuming that you guys would know to pardon the 'crudeness' as umm hey, it's PewDiePie that you're watching, aites!

2. Keep Calm & Make Tea

This one... no words can be said without me choking laughter. Watch it for yourself & you'll understand why.

Don't worry, no spoilers will be spilled! In my words, this heartfelt gameplay stays in a puddle of paranomal happenings, drastic emotions, justice & actual life. More than 10 episodes, I bet you'll be staying up all night with popcorn & a tissue box to satisfy your addicted mind. It's just such an amazing game! Die hard fan of Ellen Page. xx

Similar to the tea one, I laughed my guts out when Pewdie's having a hard time. Best baking skills I'd ever witness!

If you read my previous blog post, you probably noticed something about the rain & the Origami Killer. Yup, this is what I'm referring to. Totally a must to check it out as it tackles your emotions too, tissue box required. All them feels.

6. Bully: Scholarship Edition

Another lengthy gameplay, this oldie hold a classic atmosphere which attracted Pewds to play it. Although it may seem boring to some people due to its early graphics & school-related storyline, I had a great time staying up for this as Pewdie's witty jokes & the way he plays it never fail to interest me.

"Why isn't this table moving? Argh umm don't even bother I swear I'm not a table." I rate this 11 out of 10 dolphins. Adding onto this humorous sequel, Minx was sooooo funny I just can't.

8. The Walking Dead

Entirely different from the TV series you heard about, this one stabs your heart with a heck of a storyline filled with emotions. Don't forget the gore too. You would love this if you love intense gameplays of survival with kids in it. To sum things up, Pewdiepie even cried at its ending.

Currently with 76 episodes, this is actually one of Pewdie's successful playlists most of his fans requested for! Bet you didn't expected a bike riding game to hit the top, eh? Sadly he slowed down on this simple game & now 'plays' his attention on the modern games such as GTA 5 & Infamous: Second Son.

10. The Last Of Us

Last but not least, here's one of the best games of 2013. The alive dead included, this game is glancing more at an unbreakable bond of the two main characters. Fancy the graphics, character movement & voice acting. It's tough to describe it without spoiling it though! Praying hard for part 2.

That's all for today, wishing you peeps a happy week of surprises!

See you soon, Alanis xx.

Pancakes

"Mom, what is that round flat stuff sitting beside the bacon?" the 4 year old me questioned with my index finger pointing at the menu.

"It's called a pancake. Just a waffle without its crisp, wanna give it a try?" Mom answered in milliseconds.

"Umm wookay." I blurted without a puff of faith towards my upcoming new dish.

And I was so wrong.

A mini bite into the fluffy piece of beauty drooled with never-insipid maple syrup literally killed me. Shot my heart with the world's best sniper rifle, resulting in time to take a break from living. My sheer mind began to shuffle them brain puzzles: What the actual mayhem is this new food discovery? Doesn't taste like cake, neither a pan (thought I would taste metal) but it's just oh so good. Definitely more. I need more, mom.

Since my first ever glorious experience with buttermilk pancakes from One Utama's Waffle World (doesn't make sense eh), pancakes always win the menu challenge. From breakfast to dinner, it was impossible for me to get sick of such a sugary treasure. One of my all time favourites are Blueberry Pancakes topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. Another favoured icy beauty crossing the heaven of fluffiness with a touch of sweet fruit, mind my words but what the actually heck? Is that even feasible? I just cannot even-gargh-it held me speechless for years.

What an allure.

Now you see, pancakes aren't just a source to keep us humans breathing, but an emotional inspiration that retain our souls from wilting into enmity. A warm serving of creamy flapjack never fails to enkindle my dilettante psyche from boredom. In short, it's a huge life saviour. Heartbroken? Cheer up with chocolate crepes. Poor grades? Forget life with Corned Beef hotcakes. Tummy ache? Fix that crap with Bacon Pancakes! I swear nothing gets worse after a magical wave from the pancake angel! Except for an undone one with raw batter in it. Eeek that one's a true nightmare from hell.

So whatcha waiting for? Ride over to your nearest brunch cafe & sink your fangs into a stack of comforting, buttery pancakes. Thank me later aites?

NEED. NOW.

Dare me a #onewordessay in the comments below for more! - Alanis xx.

Theater & Omnom

Hi fellow humans! Hooray for the weekends!

Today was a day of contentment, I would say. Got myself a date with Tom Cruise in the cinema this evening before diving into flavourful sticky bones & mocktails for dinner. What a craze! Futhermore, everything was unexpectedly scheduled in the morning which made it all so exhilarating to savor!

Anyways, Rogue Nation was breathtaking. Goddamit it was so beautifully done. Tom Cruise & Simon Pegg sort of stole my heart away (sorry). Also, after deeply thinking about it, I feel so bad for the luckless man who once had his security card in slot 108. Best of luck, mate.

How can I stand such a gorgeous look? #dies

Benji (Simon Pegg) - Perfect Comedic Foil

Later that, my family & I drove ourselves to Empire Shopping Gallery for a fulfilling dinner at Morganfield's. Surprisingly, the mocktail 'Begonia' earned its place in my favourites as I really enjoy the sparkle of fruits & fizz. The ribs were kind of overdone though, I prefer the one back in Pavillion KL. Other than that it was all scrumptiously good!

Garlicky BBQ Spare Ribs.

Begonia (Mocktail Favourite!)

Smokin' Duck Salad.

Bacon Wrapped Meat Balls.

Chili Loco Tacos.

Oh gosh I soberly can't wait for Mission: Impossible 6. See you peeps (and Tom Cruise) soon!

Huge wishes to a fun weekend, Alanis xx.

Nedd a.k.a. BFF

A lady I wouldn't address
But a tigress in a dress
Her ideas so brave it's a mess
Sadly the shy in her is an ass

Her dimples mark her cool
Which I find not so true
She's so strong like a bull
Strength never used for cruel

Her food choice is my rage
So choosey I'd lock her in a cage
Although we share the same age
I believe she owns a younger page

Her worries settle on almost everything
She needs to keep calm and start singing
Her voice so good four chairs would swing
An imperfectly perfect package to be seen

Alas the down side lies on me
The friend who tried not hard enough to show her the world she foresees
I deeply hope she finds joy & glee
And live her dream like honey & bee.

15 year old cat-smiles. Ah, surely miss those junior times.

- Not exactly inspired but requested by Nedd herself. :D
Well, it counts though as she IS an inspiration. (written few months ago) -

Beats Before Talent

Memories pulled me back to when I was five, I remember randomly hitting objects with stationaries such as pencils and crayons because I feel like to. Annoyance was the term teachers and adults pinned on me besides weird and noisy. But the truth is, I don't know why. Why are my knuckles always hungry to knock, why are my fingers so playful to play the piano even when the keys aren't present. Mom & dad used to say it's a bad habit of mine that I need to get rid of, which I found hard to understand back then. How is knocking objects a negative addiction?

Question marks continue to hunt my immature mind when I hopped onto elementary school. As usual, I drum my desk with out-of-ink pens or sometimes fingers when I wasn't aware of my physical side. Students dislike my company in class because of the distractions I create. Of course I felt down for some time, but I was pretty fine with such an unexplainable habit of mine. At least it's better than grinding my teeth that produces a sandy resonance, which I told no one before.

Things began to clear its rainy clouds above my head when I got enrolled into high school. My addiction sort of 'improved' through years of heedless practice I perform everywhere I went. Soon, my beats got noticed by a true friend of mine. She referred my convention as a talent which gently blown my mind away. During the time, I discovered an amazing musical expertise from my classmate. As you guessed (or not), it's a thing named "Pen Tapping", which is creating fruitful beats by only one or two pens on a desk. I was staggered by such a rare informal performance my friend played in class and decided to get my itchy hands on it. With a month, Pen Tapping was a flair I could include in my casual application.

Yup, just two pens & a desk.

Very unexpectedly, this stage of mine became my main spotlight of my YouTube channel. My first cover went viral within the humans I know in days. Subscribers click the button more for pens than piano, proving that something I learnt in a month was attractive than a skill I took years to master. I admit I feel down sometimes watching my piano covers lose gas while on their way shooting to the stars, but a long lost invincible spark managed to drag me back on stage.

I never knew my randomness in knocking solid objects could turn into my spotlight till now.

The focal message I want to send to you all amazing humans is real simple: Everyone owns a talent that allows each of us to shine in our own unique ways. Hidden or not, never give up on cultivating it even if you may meet harsh barriers on your hilly journey. 'Cause trust me, you're going to need that talent with you one day in order to permanently frame that cheeky smile on your face.

Meow. (Yup this cheeky smile)

Subscriber or not, thank you for the support on YouTube from the bottom of my heart. ;)

Japanese Cuisine Favourites

Morning everyone!

As a teen who loves eating & exploring real food, I had tasted lots of different cuisines from all over the world. I wouldn't say I own a favourite one as each cuisine has their own uniqueness in spices and techniques I love, like French has their Bouquet Garni while Chinese uses soy sauce as their main seasoning. Today, I choose to talk about Japanese Cuisine & my favourite creations of this cuisine.

1.  Chirashi Don

If you're a HUGE fan of Sashimi, this is a must to try! Thickly sliced Sashimi generously topped on a bowl of sakura-seasoned Japanese rice. Mmmmm speechless. It's just too beautiful for my eyes & tastebuds I got to appreciate every bite. So shut up & don't talk to me, let me eat. The one I love best is from Tokyo Grill and Sushi in Grand Rapids, MI.

2.  Sukiyaki

Ah, a bunch of fresh greens, mushrooms, tofu & glass noodles soaked in a sweet-salty base. Don't forget the beef on the side! Let it swim in the egg dip then gently place it into the hot pot for a few seconds for heat to do its thing. When it's done, dive in and oh, you flew to heaven for a moment there. It's just amazing.

Simple but warmly comforting, Chasuke is Japanese dish made by pouring green tea or dashi over perfectly cooked rice topped with savoury toppings such as salmon flakes, nori & roasted sesame seeds. In my country, I have not found a restaurant that serves this traditional creation, but my family often have this at home as it's easy to make. I usually top mine with dried ume, wasabi-flavoured sesame seeds, nori & bonito flakes. Itadakimasu!

If you're thinking "What? Tamagoyaki? What's so special about grilled eggs?" Then you're plain wrong. People don't know that this famous Japanese creation takes YEARS for a chef to perfect, as what Sushi Master Jiro Ono said. His style of making tamagoyaki is different. He doesn't roll it, instead he flips the whole japanese omelette in a squared pan. Yup, it's as tough as it sounds, but a bite of such beautiful food would melt your heart with its soft sweetness & balanced texture. If you have the cash, book a table at Sukiyabashi Jiro now! You can thank me by booking me a seat then picking up my tab.

Not just any ramen, but Menya Musashi's Tonkatsu Ramen! It's creamy, boldy flavoured with pork bones base gifts you a flight to Tokyo. I remember my first time trying this, my tastebud got stoned for a second as I had never had such a mouthwatering ramen in my life. Plus it's authentic! Sadly I only get to eat this once in a few months as I'm currently broke. Well, at least I took a photo with its Master Chef Yamaguchi! Welp where's the photo...

6.  Taiyaki

Yes, this famous Japanese treat shows that I'm an Azuki lover. This fish-shaped cake stuffed with sweet Azuki red bean paste was a part of my childhood. I recall the kid-sized me saving up coins just to get a piece of Taiyaki from an authentic Japanese store. Well, I would say these are worth spending for! Taiyaki are also filled with other common fillings such as chocolate, sweet potato and custard, but it's original version won my heart.

So here you go, these are my Japanese Cuisine favourites! Now you know what to treat me if you bring me to a Japanese restaurant (or Japan). If you haven't try these delicacies, what are you waiting for? Hit your nearby Japanese restaurant and satisfy your tastebuds! Don't forget to thank me with a treat aites.

Have a good day, and I'll see you then!

さようなら, Alanis xx.
